Beach Wheelchairs

Reg Owens and Alan Hunt on Saundersfoot beach with the beach wheelchairThe Access Group piloted these fantastic all terrain wheelchairs on Saundersfoot beach to to see if they would give residents and visitors improved access to the sands.

As a result of a joint initiative between Pembrokeshire County Council and the Access Group, two chairs are now based at the Tourist Information Centre on Saundersfoot Harbour.
They can all be booked in advance by calling 01834 813672.

The joint initiative in Saundersfoot was so successful that the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority was encouraged by the access officer to buy six more.
Two will be based at P.I.P.P.A (Physically Impaired People of Pembrokeshire Association) in Haverfordwest and can be booked in advance by calling 01437 760999.
The others are at Kiln Park in Tenby, Whitesands Beach near St Davids, Newport sands and Broadhaven near Haverfordwest.

Child's beach wheelchair

 

A child's size beach wheelchair has been donated to P.I.P.P.A. and is now available for hire.

 

 

 

Childrens beach wheelchairs

 

Two new childrens beach wheelchairs are now also available at Saundersfoot courtesy of the Welsh childrens charity POPSY .
